Ko mātou tenei
Roopu a Iwi Trust (RAIT) began its journey in 1985 following the First Hui Taumata which set a platform for the following 30 years with an intention to lead a cultural and economic renaissance for Māori. A mandate by Te Taiwhenua o Te Whānganui a Orotū was given to provide social services within the Ahuriri Region.
38 years later the Trust continues to be the leading Iwi Social Service Provider for Ahuriri.
The organisation is a MSD Level 1 provider,
engaging in high intensive,
complex social work support.

Rapid Relief Team (RRT)
Established by the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC) in 2013, RRT offers quality catering assistance and tangible support to charities, government and emergency services confronting some of humankind’s greatest challenges. Whatever the cause may be, the Rapid Relief Team (RRT) steps in to support disadvantaged children.
After seeing the mahi Roopu A Iwi Trust are doing with our whānau, the Local Team Leader Jim Crawshaw, reached out to offer RRT services.
A couple weeks later Jim arrived at the Trust’s door with boxes of RRT’s iconic global mascot, Cookie the Kookaburra plush-toys to give to our tamariki that our staff work closely with. Cookie has been sparking joy in the lives of our tamariki ever since and the Trust looks forward to working closely with the Team from Rapid Relief in future.
